ABOUT US

Our history

In 2001, the ARA Group was established and has grown to become one of the largest privately-owned multi-service organisations in Australia.

In the same year, Air Conditioning Engineering Services (ACES) was established providing air conditioning to the Sydney Metropolitan area. 

In 2006, ARA Mechanical was established as a division of the ARA Group and the company acquired ACES. 

Today, ARA Mechanical has grown to include operations in Sydney, Canberra and Orange and employ more than 110 staff.

With 2020/21 sales over $69 million and major national clients across Australia, ARA Mechanical is a leader in HVAC, mechanical services and energy management technology and is shaping a sustainable future in the Australian air conditioning industry through progressive design, installation and maintenance.

ARA Mechanical opens a branch in Orange.

Air Conditioning Engineering Services (ACES) is established in Sydney.

The ARA Group establishes ARA Mechanical to complement ARA Group products and services.

Our people

Phil Harding

Managing Director

Phil Harding has more than 32 years’ experience in the air conditioning industry, with proven ability to maximise the strengths of large operational teams while nurturing and growing client/builder relationships.

As Managing Director of ARA Mechanical since 2006, Phil has earned a reputation for his ability to develop business strategies, incubate new business models and grow the ARA Mechanical business to the $69 million turnover division it is today. Prior to this position, Phil founded and managed Air Conditioning Engineering Services (ACES) in 2001 before the company was acquired by the ARA Group in 2006.

Phil serves as an Advisory Board Member on the ARA Endowment Fund and holds a Master of Business Technology from the University of New South Wales.

Jamie Fullagar

National Service Manager

Jamie Fullagar joined ACES, now ARA Mechanical, in 2002 as a service technician and now successfully leads the ARA Mechanical National Service Department. Responsible for the overall performance of all contracts and KPIs, Jamie manages more than 55 staff at ARA Mechanical’s Sydney, Orange and ACT locations.

With more than 30 years’ experience in the air conditioning industry, Jamie has a strong professional understanding of commercial contractual obligations in terms of both resourcing and innovation and his team delivers a high standard of customer service across all functions.

Mentoring and leading his team, Jamie has a strong record of retaining staff which is a testament to his focus on developing his staff’s career and industry goals and the service department’s overall success.

Bill Dale

National Construction Manager

Bill Dale is ARA Mechanical’s National Construction Manager and has more than 40 years’ experience in the air conditioning industry. Joining ARA Mechanical in 2007, Bill is an experienced mechanical engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers in Australia.

Bill leads the ARA Mechanical design and construction team for all major projects. Most recently, Bill lead the team to the successful completion of the M5 West Connex – Stage 2.

Sanjay Ahuja

NSW Construction Manager

Sanjay Ahuja has more than 30 years’ experience in the HVAC industry across different countries. An accomplished construction manager, Sanjay joined the ARA Mechanical team in 2004 as a project manager and in 2011 became the NSW Construction Manager. During his time with ARA Mechanical, he has worked on a number of HVAC projects across various industry segments including infrastructure, education, residential and commercial.

Sanjay is responsible for identifying and managing risks, administering contracts, and monitoring and managing team performance. Striving for customer satisfaction and timely delivery of projects, Sanjay’s strengths are in creating a cohesive project team to enable working with a team spirit, safe and friendly environment.

Wayne Sampson

Financial Controller

Wayne Sampson heads up the ARA Mechanical finance team. With more than 30 years’ experience in the finance sector, Wayne brings a wealth of knowledge to his role and the team. Wayne holds a Bachelor of Business in Accounting and a Graduate Diploma of Taxation with distinctions.

Stephen Mortimer

National Safety and Compliance Manager

Stephen Mortimer is ARA Mechanical’s National Safety and Compliance Manager. Since 2017 Stephen has become an expert in compliance and risk management across a number of industries, especially within the HVAC industry. Stephen’s background includes design, development and implementation of structured operating processes. Most recently, Stephen has taken the lead in educating our employees on all aspects of mental health in the workplace.

ARC Refrigeration Trading Authorisation (Membership # AU16974) – The Australian Refrigeration Council Ltd (ARC) is the peak body for the refrigeration and air conditioning industry in Australia.

Green Building Council Australia Member (Membership # 5969) – Members since 2008, Green Building Council Australia are leaders in sustainably transforming built environments.

RACCA Member – The Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Contractors Association NSW (RACCA) represents refrigeration and air conditioning contractors involved in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration  industry.

AIRAH Member – The Australian Institute of Refrigeration Air Conditioning and Heating (AIRAH) represents professionals and practitioners working in heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration and building services industries.
